Each year we like to prepare a theme that is the cornerstone of our planning and development for the upcoming year. This year we will be unlocking the flavor and igniting the future with a cooking theme! When we cook, we gather ingredients, teachers find just the right quality of ingredients, (video clips, articles, examples) to enhance the dish (lesson). We follow a recipe (structure of the lesson) to make the learning come out just right! Sometimes we need to tweak the recipe or ingredients by adding some seasoning to enhance the dish to make sure we meet the different learning styles and reinforce understanding. Finally, the master chef (teacher) pulls it all together to present a beautifully plated dish and the learners can showcase their newfound knowledge through projects, presentations, discussions, and other assessments! Cooking works as a great metaphor to teaching and learning. We can’t wait to get cooking!
